  51. We modified all chapters and titles to reflect the addition
  52. of the PowerBook 145 to the PowerBook 140/170 product family.  In
  53. addition, we made the following changes to the
  54. PowerBook 140/145/170 procedures:

  56. 1. Added international-only parts to Illustrated Parts.  Also
  57. added parts that previously had been available to international
  58. repairers only, such as the daughterboard and motherboard.

  60. 2. Added removal procedures covering the daughterboard,
  61. motherboard, clutch assemblies, and display to Take Apart.
  62.  
  63. 3. Modified Symptom Charts troubleshooting flowcharts to reflect
  64. the current service strategy, which enables domestic repairers
  65. to replace the motherboard and daughterboard, and international
  66. repairers to also replace defective displays.

  68. 4. Added a Basics chapter.  This chapter includes graphics to help
  69. you differentiate between the three displays used in the PowerBook
  70. 140/145/170 family, and a matrix to use when replacing a display,
  71. display cable, or inverter board.  Replacement display cables and
  72. inverters must be compatible with the type of display in the
  73. customer's PowerBook.
